The promise of the resurrection is with us always even when we find ourselves in the shadow of the cross. So, I’m especially excited to share with you my first Stations of the Cross and Resurrection. I’m pairing scriptural Stations of the Cross with eight Stations of the Resurrection, which take viewers from the empty tomb to the road to Damascus where Saul becomes Paul. The Station of the Cross artworks depict moments of chaos and crisis during the last year of pandemic life. The Stations of the Resurrection depict moments of community and catharsis. Some of the events addressed in the art include the second COVID wave in India, the coup in Myanmar, the brutalization of migrants at the U.S./Mexico border, and the fall of Afghanistan. The intent behind the format of this series is to encourage people to pray the stations as pairs, the first station of the cross with the first station of the resurrection, and so on. Chaos and catharsis. Grief and joy. Cross and resurrection. Each individual piece has decorative elements taken from liturgical embroidery patterns. Each set of 11 x 17″ posters includes all 16 Stations of the Cross and Resurrection artworks along with accompanying title cards, descriptions, and prayers. The posters are printed on 100 lb. paper and are ideal for pop-up exhibitions!
